She studied art and psychology at Wesleyan College in Macon, and later at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. From there her interests turned toward computer art forms, which led her to attend the Art Institute of Atlanta and the Atlanta College of Art. After studying mostly computer animation, her need to express herself through paint and charcoal intensified. She began painting for the art market in 1997, and before her return to Florida, she gained notoriety within the Atlanta area as a premier local artist. She was also nominated for national recognition through the Academy of Fine Art Foundation's fine arts award program in 2002. She has consistently donated art for various charities, and has attended art shows throughout the southeast, as well as Art Expo New York in 1998, 1999, and 2002. <p>Ellen's work evokes a mood of warmth and passion through the colors of her palette. From horses to wine, her art demonstrates her own personal connection with the subjects. Her overall style is impressionistic, and sometimes a few contemporary mediums are added to enliven the compositions and give them more pizazz. Ellen states: I took on the role as artist to appease the desire within my soul, which is to create art that allows me to lose myself in the images, as well as captivate my audience. Her success as an artist is attributed to her loyal clients and frequent public appearances. Ellen enjoys speaking with people about her art in local town squares, and in restaurants where she frequently sets up her easel to paint. She says, Painting outdoors or on location is a great way to get inspired and share my ability and knowledge of art with others. People love to watch me paint; they are immediately captivated and will express their interest in art or how the image I'm working on effects them.
