Tom Reilly (Braff) and his adoring wife Sofia ( Peet) have their their first child. Sofia decides she wants to be a stay-at-home mom at the same time that Tom loses his job. They move to Sofia's hometown, and Tom is forced to work with his father-in-law. Tom soon clashes with his work colleagues, especially the outrageous Chip (Bateman), who still carries a torch for Sofia from their high school days.
