Diagnosed HIV positive in 1983, Tim Patten believes his passion for Roller Derby is now the thing that keeps him alive. He invests his life savings into creating the American Roller Derby League as an attempt to make the extinct sport a national sensation once again. Roller Derby is currently experiencing a national revival as leagues are springing up around the country. At its peak Roller Derby had more viewership than professional basketball, baseball and hockey.
