Ten year-old Melanie (Francois) has a special gift for the piano. She is distracted by the thoughtless behavior of Ariane (Frot), a well-known concert pianist, fails the exam and decides to give up the piano forever. Ten years later, she gains an intern position in a law firm whose senior partner is Ariane's husband. He is impressed by her hard work and hires Melanie as his au pair. She then insinuates herself into the family to exact revenge.
