    When asked why he doesn’t increase production to accommodate the demand for his magnificent Padrón cigars, Orlando Padrón replied, “it would affect the quality, and that’s not worth it. Making fine cigars takes time.” And along with fabulous tobaccos, time is one thing Padrón does not stint on. It’s common for some Padrón cigars to take as long as five years before they are ready for distribution. And when it comes to the Padrón Maduro, the standard by which all Maduros are measured, the Padrón method is unique in that Orlando grows his own Maduro wrapper. This allows the company to hand cultivate and hand pick only the best Cuban-seed tobacco leaves in their own fields, some of the most fertile in Latin America. The Maduro wrappers are then entrusted to their most skilled Cubantrained torcedores. However, before being boxed the cigars are put aside for a minimum of three years of slow, carefully monitored aging. While there may not be many of the great Padrón Maduro cigars, what there are are truly remarkable.
